In yet another shocking incident, three men who rented a taxi from Tambaram to Chengalpet allegedly murdered the 30-year-old driver of a prominent cab aggregator on Sunday.
Police have identified the deceased as Arjunan, who was a cab driver of an app-based firm. Arjunan had picked up the men from Tambaram on Sunday, as per the police. On the same evening, police discovered him dead with his throat cut on the side of the road near Vallam in Chengalpet. The victim’s wife and one-month-old twin infants survive him at Sholin

According to the police, the suspects identified as Prasanth, Thirumoorthy, and Kattimuthu, are from Perambalur and work in Chennai, The Indian Express reported.
Chengalpet Taluk Police lodged a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code based on the complaint of the Village Administrative Officer. Special squads were organised by the police to apprehend the suspects.
During the probe, authorities discovered that the driver was driving a Xylo car for the taxi aggregator Ola, and CCTV evidence verified this. Police apprehended the accused using the mobile number used to book the cab and other pieces of evidence.
Despite the fact that the police were able to apprehend the accused, the family refused to accept the corpse following a post-mortem test, The Indian Express reported.
Coworkers urged the cab company to compensate Arjunan’s family and offer protection for the employees in the near future. They protested in Chepauk and Chitlapakkam on Wednesday, urging the aggregator to compensate the deceased’s family.
