Mumbai: Out of 67 corporators of Thane Municipal Corporation, which is considered as Shiv Sena’s stronghold in Thane district, 66 corporators visited Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Nandanvan bungalow last night.
It is learned that 66 former corporators have joined the Shinde group. The corporators along with former mayor Naresh Muske met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Out of 67 corporators, MP Rajan Vichare’s wife Nandini Vichare has remained in Shiv Sena. Therefore, the picture is that the Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde groups have now formed such a faction in Thane.
Senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde revolted with 40 MLAs, so the Mahavikas Aghadi government collapsed. The BJP-Shinde faction has come together and formed a government in the state. Shiv Sena’s revolt seems to have caused a split in the Shiv Sena.
State office bearers seem to be joining the Shinde group. Thane corporators met Eknath Shinde yesterday and expressed support to the Shinde group. So now there is a lot of discussion in the political circles.
