Death of a newborn baby by escaping from the hands of a nurse

A newborn baby died due to negligence of a nurse at a private hospital in Chinhat, Lucknow. People at the hospital tried to cover up the case, but the truth came out due to the vigilance of the woman’s family. Police have registered a case in this regard.

According to the SHO of Chinhat Police Station, a woman gave birth to a baby at the Center for New Health Hospital on April 19 between 10 and 11 pm. But the nurse carelessly picked up the newborn baby without wrapping the towel and he slipped out of her arms and fell to the ground. The infant died on the spot.

Police have taken the body into custody and sent it for autopsy and a case of negligence has been registered on the basis of the report. The matter is under investigation. An investigation has been registered under Section 304A (a) and further legal action is being taken, Chinhat police said.

Jeevan Rajput had admitted his pregnant wife Poonam Rajput on April 19 at the Center for New Health Hospital. When the mother started shouting in the labor room, other members of the family, including the husband, who was standing outside the labor room, tried to enter the room. The baby is born healthy and safe. However, the nurse who was present there grabbed him with one hand and due to her negligence, the baby fell out of his hand and he died.

At the same time, the family members have accused the hospital doctors and staff of fabricating a false story to cover up the child’s death. The family was told the baby was born dead. However, the family lodged a complaint at Chinhat police station. After this, the police took the body of the newborn child in their possession and sent it for postmortem. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene after being found with bruises on his head, police said, adding that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
