Goa youth kisses woman in Mumbai local, sentenced After seven years

A man who kissed a female passenger on the Mumbai Local Railway has finally been punished. The accused has been sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. On 23 August 2015, the complainant woman was traveling with her friends on Harbor Road between Govandi and CSMT railway station.

According to the police, the name of the accused is Kiran Suja Honavar. He is a resident of Panaji, Goa.

The case has been in court for almost seven years. After the examination of all the witnesses concerned, the Metropolitan Magistrate of the Fort Court, V.S. P. Kedar has sentenced the accused to one-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

The victim had lodged a complaint with the CSMT Railway Police Station after the incident. The Railway Police took cognizance of the victim and filed a case against the accused under Section 354, 354 (a) (1) of the Penal Code.

After a thorough investigation, he collected as many witnesses and strong evidence as possible against the arrested accused and filed a chargesheet in the court. The court has sentenced the accused to one year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.
