In yet another horrific incident
of crimes against children, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a middle-aged man near Pune railway station in Pune district of Maharashtra on Friday. The minor was brutalised in a public toilet between Pune railway station and Maldhakka Chowk.
The matter came to light when the girl’s uncle saw the accused entering the public toilet used by the victim and raised an alarm, police said.
“The accused fled the scene after the girl’s uncle raised an alarm. The family approached the police and a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered,” a report in PTI quoted a police official as saying. The accused, who is a middle-aged homeless, is absconding and is known to the family of the girl.
In a similar incident in March this year, a minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her family members including her grandfather. The minor was allegedly molested by her grandfather and distant uncle, while her brother and father allegedly raped her separately, Pune police said.
The Pune Police also said that the crime was allegedly being committed for the past five years. A case of rape and molestation was registered under
various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The girl and her family lived in Pune but were natives from Bihar.
The incident came to light when the girl opened up during a ‘good touch and bad touch’ session in her school. Her ordeal was going on for the last five years.
