Maharashtra Rain Update: Heavy rains in Melghat; A 35-year-old youth was carried away and many villages were cut off

It has been raining heavily in Melghat since this morning. The Sipana river in Molghat has been flooded, leaving many villages without communication. It is learned that a youth was swept away in the river. The name of this youth is Krishna Kasdekar As.

The state has been receiving torrential rains for the last two days. Heavy rains are continuing in some parts of Vidarbha, including Nandurba. The Meteorological Department had issued Orange Alert in some parts of the state. Heavy rains have lashed Mumbai and Konkan. Today some of the rain has taken a break. In Vidarbha, the intensity of rain has increased. It has been raining for a few hours in Melghat in Amravati.

 The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Mumbai for the next two days. Mumbai was on ‘red’ alert on Saturday but received only 2.2 mm of rain. However, the rain continued. Heavy rains lashed 130 villages in three districts of Maharashtra. These villages in Vidarbha and Marathwada have been affected by the rains and many people have been affected.

At least 200 people have been evacuated from the flood-hit villages. Gadchiroli, Hingoli and Nanded districts have been worst affected by the torrential rains in the last 24 hours. On Thursday, the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had issued an order banning people from entering the beaches in the days leading up to the Red or Orange Alert.
