Man thrashed to death after heated argument; eight held

Mumbai crime: In a shocking incident, eight people killed a man who was in an inebriated state, after he asked for money to purchase more alcohol from a friend.

A 29-year-old real estate agent was allegedly killed by eight people in Mumbai’s Andheri area. Police said the incident took place late Friday following a altercation when the victim demanded money for alcohol.

The deceased, Suraj Sanjay Jhinjotia, had celebrated Holi along with his friends at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Nagar in Four Bungalows area.

“He was in an inebriated state when the incident took place. While heading home he wanted to drink more alcohol, so he asked one Ravi Singh for money. Singh and Jhinjotia knew each other,” said a police officer.

This led to an altercation. “Singh got seven friends and assaulted Jhonjotia with bamboo and wooden sticks,” he said.
