Married woman commits suicide due to father-in-law’s interrogation, case registered in RCF police station

A 20-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging herself due to harassment from her in-laws because she belonged to a backward caste, an incident took place in Chembur. In this case, a case has been registered against the girl’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and Nande in the RCF police station based on the complaint given by the parents of the deceased. The name of the married person who committed suicide is Yukta (20 years).

Her parents have alleged that the married woman committed suicide because of her in-laws’ torture. Because of their complaint, a case has been registered under sections 306, 498-A, 323, 504, 34 of the IPC against the wife’s husband Harshal, mother-in-law, father-in-law and Nande.

Her story coincided with Harshal Sankpal, who lived in the same building as Yukta. But Harshal’s family opposed their relationship. So Harshal and Yukta got married secretly. Since Yukta is a backward class, Hershal’s family opposes her. However Harshal married her.

After their family came to know that the two got married, they both rented a room in Chembur Camp area and started living there. On July 25, the two had a heated argument, during which Harshal even beat up Yukta. Then on 26th, Yukta was found hanging in her residence. Yukta being from a backward caste, her in-laws harassed her and accused her family members of torturing her. Her family is also of the opinion that she committed suicide due to this.
