As India approaches her 75th independence day, all the agencies are on their toes to see that no untoward incident happens on this day. With all the political developments around the globe and India being in the centre of all discussions, the security of prime minister Narendra Modi is or prime concern. Even agencies like Enforcement Directorate and the CBI have been asked to stop all their investigations and keep an eye out on anything which could hamper Modi’s security.

The prime minister has been asked to steer clear of the crowd and has been adviced categorically to avoid hand shakes with anyone. His security officers have been asked to maintain a distance of 10 meters between Modi and the crowd. ” No one should get within the 10 meters radius of the prime minister. As Modi has a habbit of mingling with the crowd, this time looking at the threat perception he has been advised not to do so. But he is the prime minister and how much of this will be followed is impossible to say, ” said a highly placed officer.

Intelligence sources say that there is a looming threat over the prime minister and an attempt for assassination cannot be ruled out. PM poses a threat mainly from Afghanistan, China and LTTE due to his strict stand against the actions of these lately. With India taking a stand against the Afghani radicals, recent arrests of LTTE members and even disrupting their fundings to going head in against China for the invasion in Ladhak, ut is evident that these would want to get back at some point of time.
There are inputs from agencies like IB and RAW that a chemical attack through handshakes may also be a possibility and that is the main reason why the PM has been advised not to touch anybody during the Independence day celeberation. ” For this we need all hands on deck and operations at agencies like ED and CBI have also been halted as we need every officer looking out for potential threats. Every moment of people in and around the PM’s location is being monitored and no stone is left unturned, ” says an officer.
