In the last seven months, 718 cases of missing minor girls have been registered. Out of them 654 crimes have been solved. Along with love affairs, there are cases of children leaving the house because they are not given a mobile phone, they are not studying, and they are also shouting in anger. Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, has a higher rate of disappearances of girls and women. If the missing girl is a minor, the police immediately register a case of kidnapping and start investigation.
At least three cases of kidnapping are being reported to the Mumbai police every day. Apart from searching for these girls through normal investigation, the police also search for the girls through activities like Operation Muskan. However, the rate of disappearance of girls is increasing day by day, and there is a need to take concrete measures.
Among girls who go missing, the proportion of girls who run away from love affairs is higher. Also, in some cases, girls are seen falling prey to sex rackets as well as human trafficking. In some places like Rajasthan, Gujarat, incidents of trafficking of minor girls for marriage have also come to light from time to time through police action.
