A 4-year-old girl living on the footpath in front of Nerul railway station was abducted two days ago. The police rescued the girl and accused has also been arrested. The accused identified as a Mani Thomas.
The police have expressed the suspicion that the accused is preparing to take the girl to a foreign country and sell it. This four-year-old girl lives in a slum on the eastern side of Nerul railway station. On September 21, the girl was playing on the footpath with her two siblings near the railway station. This time accused Thomas lured her to eat and took her with him.
According to the police accused was eaten panipuri by the roadside. He then took the girl away in a rickshaw. As the girl was not found for a long time, her parents lodged a complaint at the police station. Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Tanaji Bhagat, Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Daghe and Assistant Police Inspector Nilesh Shewale started searching for the girl.
For this, 150 CCTVs were investigated. After finding out that the accused was a resident of Karave village in Nerul, the police took him into custody and interrogated him. Police said that the accused is preparing to take the girl to Kerala.
