This comes days after a woman in Telangana’s Hyderabad apparently filed a false complaint alleging that she was gang-raped by her neighbour and two of his friends. As per reports, the woman in question told the police that she resorted to filing a false complaint of gang-rape because her neighbour had refused to give her a sum of Rs 10,000 for medical treatment.

The police have sought legal opinion for taking appropriate action in the case. The details of the FIR lodged on the basis of the woman’s complaint, and the latest statement given by her have been sent for legal advice, an officer said.
