Reportedly, the accused had been blackmailing the Class 12 student using her private photographs and videos. The accused threatened to post the inappropriate pictures and clips on social media.
The two accused – Jayesh Kanjariya and Mehul Hadiyal – threatened to murder the teenager’s brother if she resisted their demands. Reportedly, Kanjariya first became friends with the girl and started meeting her often. The accused and the survivor are residents of Halvad.
Soon after, Hadiyal befriended the girl and the three started meeting with each other, The Times of India reported. During these meetings, the accused allegedly took private photographs of the girl and later used them to blackmail her.
For the last few days, the girl had been upset and had stopped talking to her family. As her parents grew worried, they asked the girl if something was bothering her. Subsequently, the girl told her parents about the sexual assault that had been going on for a year.
Halvad police inspector, PA Dekivadiya said, “The family brought the girl to the police station and based on her statement we have booked the two men for rape and blackmail. The accused have not been arrested yet.
