39 inmates including 6 children test Covid positive in Mumbai’s Byculla jail

As many as 39 inmates, including six children in Mumbai’s Byculla jail, have been shifted to the isolation centre after testing positive for Covid-19.

A pregnant woman also tested positive and has been shifted to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Around 120 inmates and jail staff were tested for positive in the Byculla prison, the BMC has said.

Meanwhile, the medical health officer of BMC’s E Ward told PTI the jail had not been declared a containment zone, and the civic body’s daily bulletin had erroneously informed that it was.
