A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by her father’s elder brother in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Following a complaint by the minor survivor’s parents, the police arrested the accused on Saturday.
Police said the crime occurred several months ago, but came to fore recently after the minor complained of abdominal pain. She was taken to a hospital, where her medical examination revealed that she is eight months pregnant. Subsequently, it was revealed that she was allegedly raped by her 43-year-old uncle.
The girl’s parents approached the central all women police and filed a complaint. According to the police, the survivor stays with her parents in a rented house. The accused, along with his wife and 19-year-old son, resided on the ground floor. Around nine months ago, he allegedly raped the girl and threatened her against telling anyone about the crime.
Based on the girl’s parents, the police registered a case under sections 376 (3) and 560 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested on.
In another incident, a 40-year-old man allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Telangana’s Hyderabad on July 4. The accused, an Odisha native, was identified and nabbed by the police on Saturday after he tried to exploit another minor girl in the area.
Police said the three-and-a-half-year-old girl was kidnapped on July 4 when she had gone to a shop near her house in Dammaiguda area. The next day, she was found lying unconscious near a water tank in the locality. Her medical examination confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.
