The son of a local Trinamool Congress leader in West Bengal’s Hooghly district has allegedly uploaded morphed pictures of a police officer’s daughter on a porn website. Also his phone number was uploaded.
Officials said the girl and the accused knew each other. Though the girl’s family lodged a complaint with the Bidhannagar police in June, the police registered a case under the IT Act on Saturday.
The girl’s father and a police officer of the DSP said, “If I, being a police officer, do not get justice, what will happen to the common citizens.” The girl told that after this act of the accused, I am getting calls not only from other states but also from other countries. The matter has triggered a political tussle between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
BJP President Dilip Ghosh in West Bengal said- “Police has become inactive. Some good officers have been sidelined by the TMC government. Perhaps he did not do what the ruling party had asked him to do during the election. He had to bear the brunt of this. What will the police do? After all, it is the party leaders who are running the police.”
TMC minister Sujit Bose said. “Cyber crime is not just limited to West Bengal. It happens all over the world. West Bengal Police takes immediate action on such cases. There is no party interference. Such allegations are baseless.”
