A lawyer has filed a police complaint to register FIR against NCB Mumbai’s Sameer Wankhede and four others alleging “extortion by threat of accusation of an offence”

Trouble continues to mount for NCB’s Zonal director Sameer Wankhede. In the latest developments, a lawyer has leveled extortion allegations against him.

ANI had tweeted, “Sudha Dwivedi, a lawyer has filed a police complaint to register FIR against NCB Mumbai’s Sameer Wankhede and four others alleging ‘extortion by threat of accusation of an offence’”.Recently, Prabhakar Sail, bodyguard of witness K P Gosavi in the drugs probe, filed an affidavit levelling serious allegations, which included a payoff to Sameer Wankhede.

Following this, the NCB has ordered a vigilance inquiry into the claims of an extortion bid of Rs 25 crore. The Narcotics Control Bureau also submitted an affidavit before the special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court on Monday denying allegations made by the personal bodyguard of a witness in the cruise drugs bust case allegedly involving Aryan Khan.

The NCB said allegation of alleged extortion against the NCB official and money changing hands was a clear attempt to undermine the going investigations and create pressure with malafide and ulterior motives.

Aryan Khan’s bail plea will be heard by the Bombay High Court today. Former Arroney General for India, Mukul Rohatgi will appear for Aryan Khan today. He is set to be the lead counsel along with Satish Manshinde. Senior counsel Amit Desaiwill also be appearing as a lead counsel at the hearing scheduled before Justice Nitin Sambre.
