The incident took place in Kailashpuri area of Banda. The man, who runs a fruit cart, was reportedly annoyed at the children making noise and bursting crackers. He asked them to stop playing and when they did not agree, the man allegedly slapped a boy.

The fight escalated and two groups started fighting among themselves. The accused man then brought an acid bottle kept in his house to throw it on them. While the children escaped, two women sitting outside their home in the neighbourhood got burned by the acid.
