According to police, the accused suspected his wife’s character and often beat her up when he saw Ayesha talking to men in the neighbourhood. The cops said he indulged in an argument before stabbing Ayesha.

In a similar incident in May this year, a man allegedly killed his 35-year-old wife by slitting her throat with a sword when she was asleep after he doubted the victim’s fidelity. The incident was reported from Jodhpur district in Rajasthan.

The accused Bisnaram Bheel later surrendered to the local police. Initial investigations revealed that the accused committed the crime as he doubted the victim’s fidelity.

The victim, identified as Neelam (35), and her husband worked as daily wage labourers. For the last few days, Neelam had been living at her parents’ place in Soorsagar locality in Jodhpur. Bheel brought Neelam to his house in Piparli village. Police said Bheel used to doubt the character of Neelam. It is suspected that the issue might have led to an argument between the couple at night.
