The Wanowrie police on Friday registered a case against a corporator and three others of cheating a civic contractor of Rs 3 lakh between August 20 and August 30. The matter came to light after a complaint was lodged by Nikhil Ratnakat Divse against a Pune civic body corporator.
In his complaint to police, the contractor said on the pretext of helping secure contracts for civic works, the four men demanded money which he allegedly paid.
The 32-year-old victim added that the corporator and his me took Rs 50,000 initially and the Rs 2.5 lakh to secure three civic body contracts.
The contracts were related to drainage, asphalting, and concretising roads in the Wanworie area. As per reports, the corporator and three others received money from him, and when the contracted started enquiring about projects they did not respond and refused to return his Rs 3 lakh.
