A woman alleged that her 14-year-old daughter was raped in a bus while they were travelling from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh on Monday. She said the incident happened at night after she boarded the bus at the Badarpur border around 11:30 pm. She was travelling to Shikohabad with her minor daughter and 18-year-old niece.
The woman also said the conductor of the bus and a helper misbehaved with her during the journey, the Times of India reported on Thursday.
The woman further claimed that the conductor raped her daughter when all the passengers had gotten off the bus for refreshments. She said she too had stepped out to use the washroom. Later when she got on the bus, she couldn’t find her daughter there.
“After some time, I saw my daughter. She was crying. She told me the conductor had raped her. I told other passengers about it. When I asked to stop the bus, the driver did not listen. We had crossed 20-25 km on the Yamuna Expressway by then,” the woman was quoted as saying.
She further said the conductor and the helper got off the bus between Maant and Jewar toll plaza.
“It was then I called my son and brother-in-law who the stopped the bus (in Firozabad),” she said.
Firozabad additional SP Akhilesh Narayan Singh said an FIR was lodged on Tuesday and the accused was arrested on rape charges under the Pocso Act. The accomplice of the accused was also booked for assault with intent to outrage modesty, police said.
