The victim has been identified as Ramdas Khot (42), who holds the post of assistant secretary with the Prahar Janshakti Party. The incident took place at around 3:24 pm on Friday when he was crossing the toll on the BWSL.

He refused to make the toll payment, showing his government ID. As per government resolutions (GR), motorists having more than 85% disability are exempted from paying the toll. The victim alleged that after this, he was assaulted and abused by the toll staff.
