Mumbai: A differently abled motorist was allegedly abused, humiliated and beaten up by two men working at the toll collection post located on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) in Maharashtra’s Mumbai. A case regarding this has been registered, but the accused are yet to be arrested.
The victim has been identified as Ramdas Khot (42), who holds the post of assistant secretary with the Prahar Janshakti Party. The incident took place at around 3:24 pm on Friday when he was crossing the toll on the BWSL.
He refused to make the toll payment, showing his government ID. As per government resolutions (GR), motorists having more than 85% disability are exempted from paying the toll. The victim alleged that after this, he was assaulted and abused by the toll staff.
“Since Friday, I have not stepped out of my house as the incident left me traumatized. This was the first time I witnessed such an incident on the BWSL in the last four years ever since I started driving to Mantralaya for work.
Despite showing the necessary documents, the toll guys thrashed me. When I showed them the government ID, they abused me saying ‘tum logon ko mast chaddi hai’,” the victim told The Times of India.
