On the day of the incident, the woman went to the orthopaedic surgeon as she was experiencing a pain in her hip. During the check-up, the accused asked the woman to lie down.

Following this, he allegedly removed the woman’s pants and she pushed his hand away when he was about to reach her private parts. Later, the doctor asked the woman to lie on her stomach. The accused, however, escaped from the spot and went to her car, The Times of India reported.

The woman also approached the Mapusa police and lodged a complaint against the accused. Deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Gajanan Prabhudesai said that they have booked the accused and the latter has filed for anticipatory bail before a court.

In July this year, a doctor in Maharashtra allegedly molested a nurse while she was on night duty. The allegations came to light when the 21-year-old nurse claimed that the accused touched her inappropriately and threatened her when she objected to his behaviour. The accused, however, claimed that the woman was caught sleeping on duty and she filed a false molestation case when confronted. Following the allegations, the police booked the accused under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
