The Delhi Police have arrested a 17-year-old minor for allegedly raping and murdering a woman in Dwarka area of the national capital.
The body of the woman was found lying in a drain near garbage on November 15. During the course of the investigation on November 17, the Delhi Police arrested the accused on charges of murder.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly informed police that he had also raped the victim. He also told police that he strangled the woman and put her private parts on fire out of the fear of being caught and to destroy evidence, according to a report in ANI.
During the course of probe, the police circulated the victim’s photo that finally reached the victim’s family. Police said they questioned at least 2,700 people during the probe.
Police have now added sections of rape to the case. However, the police are yet to receive the post-mortem report.
Further investigations are underway in the probe.
