Mumbai became the capital of accidents; Mumbai tops in road accidents

Efforts are being made by the government to reduce the number of road accidents in Maharashtra. Work on several highways is also underway at the war level. However, the number of accidents has not decreased.

In 2021, 29 thousand 494 road accidents have taken place in the state. In this 13 thousand 528 passengers have been injured while 13 thousand 528 passengers have died in road accidents. It is noteworthy that the highest number of accidents in the state is taking place in Mumbai. In 2021, there were 2230 accidents in Mumbai in which 387 people died. 1942 people were seriously injured in the accident.

According to accident statistics, the number of road accidents in the state has increased by 17 percent last year as compared to 2020, while the number of deaths and injuries has increased by 15 percent. The state recorded 24,971 accidents, 11,569 deaths, and 19,914 injuries in 2020. According to a Highway Police official, at least 37 to 40 people are killed in road accidents in Maharashtra every day.
