The decision of Mumbai Police Force Contract Recruitment 2023 has been approved by the Home Ministry. The Home Department has decided to recruit contract policemen in the Mumbai Police Force. This recruitment will be done through the State Security Corporation on contractual basis for 11 months. This is the first decision of this kind of recruitment by the government. The Home Department has taken this decision on the request of the Commissioner of Police as the Mumbai Police is facing shortage of manpower.
The Mumbai Police Force is currently running short of manpower. As a solution to this, the state government has decided to recruit 3 thousand contract police and the process of implementing it has been started. This recruitment will be done through Maharashtra State Security Corporation on contractual basis for 11 months. This decision has been taken by the Home Department on the request of the Police Commissioner till the recruitment of new police. The state government has made a provision of Rs 30 crore for this.
Navratri festival, Diwali, Christmas have come in a few days. For this, police forces have to be deployed in large numbers. For this recruitment is being done in Mumbai Police Force. Maharashtra Security Corporation jawans have been given police-like training. Therefore, these jawans will be recruited. These recruits will be posted on duty in the Mumbai Police Force for 11 months or the same period till recruitment. After that they will have to serve again in the security corporation.
100 crores have been allocated by the government for this purpose. The opposition had raised the issue of contract police recruitment in the monsoon session. At that time, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that there will be no contract recruitment in the police force. It was said that these jawans will be given to the police force just as the jawans of the security corporation are given for the security of the establishment.
