Techie ends life after boyfriend refused to repay loans she took for him

A woman employed with an IT firm in Pune’s Viman Nagar allegedly died by suicide after her boyfriend purportedly refused to repay EMIs of the loans she had taken out for him. The deceased, identified as Rasika Ravindra Diwate, 25, a resident of BT Kavade Road, had also bought a pre-owned car for her boyfriend after he promised to repay the money.

Hadapsar police have arrested Adarsh Ajaykumar Menon, a resident of Z Corner, Manjari, after Rasika’s mother Chanda Diwate, who works as a private nurse, filed a complaint alleging abetment to suicide. Menon, who hails from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, has been booked under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the complaint registered with police, the deceased was in a love affair with the accused identified as Adarsh Ajaykumar Menon (25). The accused took loans using various loan applications and credit cards of the deceased woman. He had promised to make payments of these loan’s installments but despite that he stopped paying the EMIS and the deceased was being harassed by the loan companies.

The complainant has alleged that her daughter often used to fight with the for not making accused man for not making the payments of loan on. As she was tired of making payment and was mentally harassed due to these loans, the woman committed suicide in her house, claimed her mother in her complaint to the police.

A case under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused at Hadapsar Police Station. The police have arrested the accused and further investigation in the matter is underway.
