Uttar Pradesh Law Commission releases population control draft, invites public opinion – All you need to know

The Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission has released the first draft of the bill aimed at population control and has sought public opinion by July 19.

The bill has called for incentives for those who have two children or less. In case of non-adherence to the two-child norm, there will be disincentives.

The bill says that due to limited resources in Uttar Pradesh, it is necessary to control and stabilize the population to promote sustainable development with more equitable distribution.

This Act shall be called the Uttar Pradesh population (Control, stabilization and Welfare) Act, 2021, and it will extend to the whole of Uttar Pradesh.

It will come into force after one year from the date of publication in the Gazette.
