Woman hatches conspiracy to bludgeon lover to death with help of son, his friend

A 36-year-old man was allegedly murdered by a woman, her son and their accomplice in Tirupur city of Tamil Nadu. The three accused were arrested by the police on Thursday.

Police identified the deceased as Santhoshkumar (36).  Those arrested have been identified as Murugeshwari (46) of Thiruvalluvar Nagar, her son Arockiyadass (21) and his friend Balasubramanian (21).

Police investigations revealed that Santhoshkumar was in an illicit relationship Murugeshwari who had borrowed a sum of Rs 70,000 from her a few months ago. He had asked her to return the money, but she refused to do it and hatched a plan to kill him with the help of her son and his friend.

A police officer said that on July 17, the two youths assaulted Santhoshkumar using an iron rod, and later, dragged him to the stone quarry, where they set him on fire. The next day, the victim’s wife filed a complaint with the Veerapandi police to trace her husband.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation leading to the arrest of the three accused. “We found that he [Santhoshkumar] was murdered by Arockiyadass and Balasubramanian, who confessed to the crime when we pick them up for questioning,” a report by The Times of India quoted the police as saying.

Subsequently, Murugeshwari was also arrested for allegedly plotting the crime. The three arrestees have been booked under sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused were sent to judicial custody and the victim’s body was retrieved from the stone quarry.
