Woman mortgages her mangalsutra to arrange money for husband’s supari killing

A shocking incident has been reported from Thane district of Maharashtra where a woman mortgaged her mangalsutra to arrange money for her husband’s killing.  Police have now arrested the woman, her boyfriend and two others for the murder of the woman’s husband.

The woman has been identified as Shruti Ganji. Police said she mortgaged her mangalsutra and other items to collect Rs 1 lakh to be given as supari to kill her husband, according to a report in Times of India. Cops said that the accused woman later planned to raise another Rs 3 lakh by breaking her Fixed Deposit (FD). The woman wanted to divorce her husband Prabhakar in order to live with her boyfriend.

However, Prabhakar had refused to divorce Shruti despite him being in a relationship with another woman. As Shruti was fed up with her married life, she discussed it with her friend Priya Nikam who asked her to contact a contract killer Santosh Reddy. Police have arrested Santosh, Priya and the woman’s boyfriend Hitesh Vala. Cops are also searching for two other aides of Reddy.

Senior inspector of Crime unit, Ashok Honmane, said Reddy and his aides had booked Prabhakar’s taxi on the pretext of commuting from Bhiwandi to  Airoli.

“When the taxi reached Mankoli Naka, the accused asked Prabhakar to make a halt for them to buy food. When he stopped the car, the accused strangled the driver with a nylon rope and fled from the spot,” the report quoted Honmane as saying.

Police said the killers ensured that were no fingerprints on the crime scene. Cops said the victim’s wife Shruti gave contradictory answers after the murder. Upon sustained, Shruti allegedly confessed to planning the murder of her husband.
