Worker dies after falling into a ditch while working at BMC’s water purification center

A worker has died after falling into a ditch during the work of Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s water purification center. The incident took place at the Oshiwara police station. Oshiwara police have registered an accidental death in the case

BMC Sewage Treatment Plant is under construction at Dumping Yard, Lokhandwala Bank Road, Versova Andheri West, and Mumbai in Oshiwara Police Thane area and 30 feet deep pit has been constructed underground at this place.

Work begins at about 9 a.m. Friday night with an iron beam crane at the site. At that time, Kamlesh Ramnarayan Mahato (age 26) was standing in a corner, signaling the crane driver to move the beam. At that moment, he lost his balance and fell 30 feet into a pool of cement concrete and was injured.

He was rushed to a private hospital for immediate treatment. Road was admitted at Jogeshwari West. He was then shifted to Trauma Care Hospital, Jogeshwari East. However, he died during the treatment. Oshiwara police have registered an accidental death in the case.
